AI image of Jesus healing blind Bartimaeus.

I’ve shared with you not too long ago that I’m kicking around ideas for a couple new books. What will be next? I received some good feedback and have to say, it was pretty evenly split between the prayer idea and the testimony idea.

So, I’m actively working on them both. hahaha

I continue to think and pray about which one will take precedence over the other. I don’t know for sure how that will play out yet, but FYI, the prayer one is a similar format to my last book and will come together more easily than the testimony one. I’m thinking that the testimony one may end up being the first book idea that I actually contract with a publisher for their assistance with structure, editing, advertising, etc.

So, I’d like to share with you the first draft of a preface for the prayer book. I’ve adapted the working title of this book from “SPIT Prayer: 28 Days to a Vision for Missional Prayer” to “I Want to See: 28 Days to a Vision for Missional Prayer.”

So, here is the Preface. For those who are paid subscribers, you will see the whole piece. For others, thank you for staying engaged in my writing journey by reading. I truly appreciate you all.

Preface

Imagine with me for a moment.

Jesus is standing right in front of you and He asks you a simple question.

"What do you want me to do for you?"

What do you say?

My guess is, if you are reading these words right now, your deepest desire would not be that Jesus restore your sight. You see well enough to read this book, so I'm sure there are other needs, other desires you would express to Jesus with the hope of their fulfillment per Jesus' request. Would you ask for health in another area of your life? Would you ask for resources to meet the needs that weigh upon your mind? Would you ask something for someone else?

While this book could be thought of as being about the kind of interaction we are imagining with Jesus and the conversation that ensues from Jesus' own question, it has at its heart an answer to said question that Jesus Himself invites you to consider. He wants you to want what He wants. He desires for your heart to break with what breaks His heart. He longs for those who find their true godly desires met in Him to follow Him in such a way that our deepest desire becomes to have our eyes opened to see all the people around us as He sees them, to consider their deepest need and to know God's desire for them.
